President of US Midwest University Visits CIYEC
Zhang Hua, Director of China International Youth Exchange Center (CIYEC), met with James Song, President of Midwest University of the US, in Beijing on Oct 9.
Welcoming Song on his second visit this year, Zhang said that the future of China-US relations lies with the youth, and this is a significant historical mission they need to shoulder. He emphasized that young people from both countries should enhance exchanges, build mutual trust and actively explore ways to coexist peacefully and seek common development in the new era.
The CIYEC is willing to work closely with Midwest University, strengthening communication and cooperation, enriching the forms of exchange, and deepening the content to cultivate more young goodwill ambassadors and promote the healthy and stable development of China-US relations, Zhang added.
Song gave a rundown on Midwest University's youth exchange programs with China and noted that youth exchanges play an important role in promoting healthy and stable national relations. Midwest University is committed to being a bridge for improving US-China relations, fostering mutual understanding and trust through methods such as musical exchange programs and themed art exhibitions, and working to cultivate the next generation of contributors to US-China Relations, Song added.
The two sides also discussed specific cooperation projects and reached a consensus. The head of the center's Economical Cooperation Department participated in the meeting.
