Background

In March 2023, President Xi Jinping introduced the Global Civilization Initiative, underscoring the significance of promoting deeper cultural exchanges and dialogues. He emphasized the need to enhance cultural exchanges with all parts of the world, jointly promote cultural prosperity, safeguard cultural heritage, and facilitate mutual learning among civilizations. This initiative aims to inject profound and enduring cultural strength into building a community with a shared future for mankind, with a particular emphasis on the pivotal role of youth.

To further implement President Xi’s guidance on cultural heritage and development, and to give practical effect to the Initiative, the China International Youth Exchange Center is organizing the “International Youth Pop Culture Season”. The objective of this series of activities is to build consensus among youth and harness their dynamism to promote cultural exchanges and mutual understanding among civilizations worldwide. Through various trendy cultural formats including anime, street dance, pop toys, pop fairs and flash mobs, the Culture Season intends to create a platform that encourages creativity, drives innovation, deepens friendships, and fosters collaboration in the dynamic interplay of cultures.
