Zhang Hua, Director of the China International Youth Exchange Center (CIYEC), met with a 7-member delegation from the Midwest University of the United States, led by the university's President James Song, on April 12.

Zhang briefed the delegation on the CIYEC and exchanged views on mutual concerns. Noting the significance of youth in fostering healthy China-US relations, Zhang expressed the hope that the two sides will take the opportunity of the 45th anniversary of China-US diplomatic relations to fully implement the consensus reached at the San Francisco meeting between the two heads of state, and promote American students to come to China for exchange and studying.

The two sides should explore the right way to get along and establish correct strategic recognition, respect each other, co-exist in peace, pursue win-win cooperation, continuously reducing prejudices, enhancing understanding, and fostering friendship through concrete action, and striving to promote the sustainable, stable and healthy development of China-US relations, Zhang said.

Song introduced the recent developments of Midwest University. He said that carrying out US-China youth exchanges helps enhance mutual understanding and trust. This visit aims to initiate dialogue and seek cooperation in promoting youth exchanges, he said, expressing willingness to further enhance communication, closely cooperate and jointly launch relevant cooperative projects to contribute to the development of US-China relations.

During their stay, the delegation visited Silver Olive Sports World and Century Theater. Heads of the Economical Cooperation Department of the CIYEC and Century Theater also attended the event.
