Jointly hosted by the China International Youth Exchange Center (CIYEC) and the Japan-China Friendship Center, an online communication meeting between university students from China and Japan was held on March 10. Forty student representatives from 11 universities in China and Japan discussed career planning linked with member-based employment, job-based employment and gender, and how to achieve the balance between work and life.

Daishi Kumon, a professor at the Institute of Asian Studies of Asia University, gave a keynote speech themed on "How to Survive in an Era of Increasing Uncertainties — Thinking about the Career of Generation Z in China and Japan".

Representatives from both sides indicated that the employment of college students is an important issue for youth development and is also directly related to the future development of human society. Doing a good job in career planning is a solid foundation for pursuing ideals and life values.

It is necessary to have correct self-awareness and set a clear goal in terms of choosing the employment, balancing work and life and achieving career success. Students should also improve vocational skills and adjust career planning according to reality.

Representatives from both sides believed that multiculturalism helps to broaden horizons and they also expressed interests in working in each other's country.

Exchanges on employment between college students of the two countries are conducive to enhancing mutual understanding, promoting cooperation on international issues such as youth development, and contributing to the healthy development of bilateral relations.
