JCI ROK Visits China

Members of the Junior Chamber International of the Republic of Korea exchange views on bilateral cooperation with the Chinese representatives.

A delegation composed of 10 members of the Junior Chamber International of the Republic of Korea (JCI ROK) at the invitation of the China International Youth Exchange Center (CIYEC), visited Wanzhou and Yongchuan districts of Southwest China's Chongqing City from October 23 to 26, 2019.

The representatives conducted an inspection tour of the economic and social development of the two districts and explored deepening China-ROK cooperation.

Liu Xiaoquan, Deputy Chief of Wanzhou district, and Luo Gaoyan, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of the Wanzhou Economic Development Zone, showed the ROK delegation around a local major zhacai (pickled Chinese mustard) producer named Yuquan, and helped them learn about the developments of the lives of residents of the Three Gorges area.

In a symposium held in Wanzhou, Luo Gaoyan introduced local regional advantages and industrial development structure, and hoped that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction especially in tourism development and health care. The JCI ROK President said that his organization would encourage more South Korean enterprises to do business in Wanzhou.

Teng Hongwei, Party Secretary of Yongchuan district, met with the delegation, and took part in bilateral talks on enhancing people-to-people exchanges and developing economic and trade cooperation conducted during the meeting.

Teng briefed the assembled representatives on the economic and social development of Yongchaun, and noted that the two sides should identify the focus of joint development and adhere to market-based cooperation, adding that they should launch economic and trade exchange projects and promote cooperation in the tourism sector to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

The representatives also visited a local enterprise and a big data industrial park, gaining in-depth understanding of district planning.

Delegation members said Chongqing is an important portal for showcasing China's development and will become a major base for practical cooperation between young entrepreneurs of China and the ROK.

They also approved the promotion of cross-border big data cooperation proposed by Zhang Hua, Deputy Director of CIYEC, and hoped that the two sides will made progress in youth innovative development by combining the relevant development strategies of the two countries.

During their stay in Chongqing, the ROK representatives also visited the site of the former ROK provisional government.
