Youth Environmental Activity Held in Kubuqi Desert

A Greener China-2019 International Youth Eco Movement, co-sponsored by the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), China International Youth Exchange Center (CIYEC),and local Communist Youth League of China (CYLC), was held in China's Kubuqi Desert in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from September 6 to 9, 2019.

The activity was meant to promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign youths, raise their awareness of environmental protection and sense of responsibilities, and encourage them to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

Hong Guimei, Deputy Director of the CIYEC, leaders of the  local Communist Youth League, Japanese youth delegations, and representatives of university students and overseas students in China took part in the days' activities.

International youths participated in the launch ceremony of the 2019 China-Japan Youth Earth Eco Village Demonstration Forest Project and other green activities such as those of Combat Desertification Youth in Action.

Representatives of university students read out the "Youth Green Initiative" in Chinese, English, and Japanese, hoping that all youth will work together to improve the global environment, promote green and sustainable development of the earth, and create a green community with a shared future for mankind.

In the Youth Green Initiative, international youths called for carrying out responsibilities in combating desertification, promoting a conservation culture, and realizing the UN SDGs.

At the international youth green development exchange and sharing meeting, university student representatives from 11 countries talked about the status quo of garbage sorting in their countries.
