Training Program of Tsinghua University, University of Cambridge Recruits Participants for 2018

A program for young entrepreneurs themed on "Global Competence, Leadership Excellence and Joint Innovation", initiated by the China International Youth Exchange Center (CIYEC) and offered in collaboration with Tsinghua University and the University of Cambridge, will be held from Sept 14 to 26, 2018.

In accordance with the national strategy for talents, the entrepreneurial spirit should be stimulated and protected; more social actors should be encouraged to engage in innovation and entrepreneurship; and a cluster of internationally qualified young sci-tech talents and high-level innovation teams should be nurtured.

By integrating top academic and business resources at home and abroad, the program will enable outstanding young entrepreneurs to accurately grasp China's political and macroeconomic situation and thoroughly understand sino-foreign relations and major strategies. The program will broaden the entrepreneurs’ international horizons, enhance their global competence, and provide a platform for their enterprises to go global.

It will give a detailed exposition of corporate innovation and sustainable development to the young start-up founders, and share knowledge and successful cases of outstanding entrepreneurial leadership building and enterprise inheritance, help them better manage their own businesses.

1. School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University

The School of Social Sciences has programs in philosophy, law, economics, management, education, science and other liberal arts disciplines.

At present, there are five first-level disciplines authorized to grant doctoral degrees, two first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees and one discipline authorized for master's professional degrees; there are also four undergraduate majors in social sciences including economics, sociology and international politics and psychology, and four post-doctoral mobile stations providing courses in political science, theoretical economics, sociology and philosophy.

The school has four departments (Sociology, Political Science, International Relations and Psychology) and two institutes (the Institute of Economics and the Institute of Science, Technology and Society) as well as nearly twenty interdisciplinary non-physical research institutes.

2. Institute of Global Development, Tsinghua University

The institute was established by Tsinghua University in 2016 under a tripartite cooperation model between government, academia and enterprises aiming to integrate domestic and international resources, promote global development research, present Chinese solutions, and provide public products.

It focuses on common development between China and the rest of the world, and promotes themed research on the world order and Chinese solutions, China's national governance system and modernization, global innovation networks and common development.

The institute works with world-class universities such as Harvard University, the University of Cambridge, Georgetown University and the University of Tokyo to build a global network of China research centers and to propel idea and wisdom sharing by world civilizations.

3. Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge

Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, acts as a foreign party able to issue invitation letters for each participant to apply for a visa to the UK.

Founded in 1209 and located in Cambridge, England, UK, the University of Cambridge is a public research university which is the second oldest in the English-speaking world and one of the world's leading and most distinguished universities.

Cambridge is a collegiate federal university, with thirty-one residential colleges and individual academic departments grouped into six main academic colleges.

Lucy Cavendish College is one of three women's colleges at the University of Cambridge and is highly international. Notable alumni of the college include Noeleen Heyzer, executive director of the United Nations Development Fund for Women, Margrethe II, queen of Denmark, and Dame Catherine Anne Tizard, the first woman governor-general of New Zealand.
